Offered here is a charming and attractive nautical shell shaped serving plate, dish for Hors D’ Vreis from the Wilton Company, a family owned manufacturer of iron castings, aluminum and pewter.
The mark on the bottom of this piece, “Wilton Columbia PA U.S.A.” with a RWP inside a circle dates it from the early 60’s, when Ralph P. Wilton, Jr. developed his formula for the unique aluminum based alloy called Armetale, which can be made to look like pewter or highly polished to resemble silver.
It is food safe and non toxic.
