Fine traditionally hand-crafted and turned Ash platter finished with Japanese scorched yakisugi technique and natural rim. These are handmade to the very best quality in London. Finished in food safe oils. A beautiful piece of handmade contemporary design with a finishing technique that dates back millennia. This bowl is hand turned from English Ash Wood that came to us from East Sussex. Once shaped the piece underwent the ancient Japanese technique of Yakisugi, scorching with a 2000 degree flame to cause instant charring. An abrasive was then used to remove the thin layer of loose charcoal and the process started again. After the second charring the bowl was treated with a blend of natural oils and waxes Stamped by Maker,This piece has an attribution mark,
